On a magical Island in the Atlantic Ocean, there's a jolly nation, taking pride in their land, tradition and culture. They love sports, music, dancing, parties and beer. Between golf, rugby, and GAA, they eat meals made of fresh and best quality ingredients. And that's what makes every simple home-cooked meal on this island so delicious.
Those who live on the island rarely worry about the prices of bread. In fact, most of them bake their own traditional soda-bread from scratch, by recipies passed in their family for generations. They know how simple it is to bake it. It takes no longer than 30 minutes to make, so your family will all have hot and fresh bread.
Cinnamon Girl is bringing you the vegan recipy from the Emerald Isle that will make you forget the bread prices are leaping this week: traditional Irish Soda Bread.

Ingredients:
1.5 cups of wholemeal flour
1 TSP of baking soda
1/4 TSP of salt
3/4 cup of plantbased milk supplement
1/2 TSP of apple-viniegar
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. Make vegan buttermilk: mix the plantbased milk with the vinegar, and leave it for 10-15 minutes.
3. Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl.
4. Slowly add the vegan buttermilk you've made to the dry mix. mix it until you can knead the dough in your hands. If the dough is too sticky, you can add a little bit of flour. If it's too dry, you can add a bit more plant-based milk.
5. Choose the shape of your bread: a loaf, or buns.
place the dough in the baking pan. Baking-sheet isn't necessary here.
If you've made buns, use a knife to mark quater-shape slices.
If you've made loafs, use a knife to mark the slices that will be cut from it after the bread is baked.
*Very important: the dough does not contain any hops, so don't knead the dough too much and don't squeeze it, so the dough will rise.
6. Bake the bread for 15-30 minutes, depending on the shape of the bread you've decided to bake. The soda bread is ready after rising and there's a golden brown crust.
*Bonus:
Every soda bread could be turned into barmbrack, a festive Irish bread, by adding nuts and raisins to the dry ingredients.
